Lorde is Back and Better Than Ever

I love Lorde. Well, Ella actually. She’s only three days older than me and I look up to her as an idol. Weird? Yeah, kinda, but her songs have spoken to me since I started following her career around 2013. Anyway.

This post is going to be pure gushing about how excited I am for her sophomore album “Melodrama.”

Lorde just announced a few minutes ago that her next album will be released June 16th. In the same breath, she released a second single”Liability” from the new album.

Just six days ago, Lorde released her first single since “Yellow, Flicker, Beat,” which was written for one of the Hunger Games movies. That song, “Green Light,” has already hit the No. 1 spot on iTunes and Spotify streaming services. This comes as no surprise to me.

Lorde really teased fans with a website that came out of nowhere about a week ago. imwaitingforit.com had a small teaser video featuring Lorde, and some key dates for when big things would happen. My eyes were glued. And then finally, the video and song were released and I haven’t stopped listening since.

The spooky, angsty sound from her teen years is shadowed throughout both her singles, but there’s a definite pop-sound that wasn’t there before. Since “Pure Heroine” was released in September 2013, a lot has changed for Lorde. She’s grown-up, she’s gotten past the teenage awkward stages and now she’s a woman who has had experiences she might not even have imagined when she first wrote “Pure Heroine.”

I have already pre-ordered the album and can’t wait to see what more she has in store for us all.

Much love,
