My name is Nicole Gimpl. I am a senior at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. I plan on graduating in May 2018, a full year ahead of schedule.

This is my 4th year with experience in journalism. After participating in the 2014 Cronkite High School Summer Journalism Institute, I found that I really liked what I was doing and that journalism was the career I wanted to pursue.

With a semester writing for “College Times,” two semesters of writing for “State Press Magazine,” and a semester as an intern for “Downtown Phoenix Journal” under my belt, I believe I have the necessary skills and drive that it takes to be a great journalist. I am also proud to announce that as of August 2017, I will be a digital news production intern with azcentral! I can also announce that as of August 2017, I will be the digital producer for State Press Magazine!

I will be a summer 2017 intern in Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton’s office working with the communication director!

In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching Netflix, exploring downtown Phoenix and spending time with my friends and family. I hope to one day become  a print journalist for Sunset Magazine, or a digital producer for a media outlet.
